Mara will help you to see the whole picture beyond your own truth. She welcomes working with individuals from all different walks of life. Mara has worked over 10 years in the mental health field with a variety of populations such as athletes, eating disorders, and co-occurring diagnosis.
My Background and Approach
Each person comes with their own unique challenges and cannot be labeled into a neat perfect package. It can be difficult at times trying to understand where one belongs and feels needed. Mara uses an eclectic approach such as CBT, ACT, Psychodynamics, and Relational Practice. She believes that people are unique and process situations differently and it is important for her to build a relationship and help uncover the tools that you can connect to and thrive. Mara has helped individuals explore their struggles and their strengths. This is done by diving into what is maintaining this hardship and discovering tools to help deal with current and future challenges. Topics that have been explored have been anger management, relationships, depression, and anxiety. Mara specializes in Sports Psychology with treating athletes to regain their best version of self. Focus is on the emotional wellbeing of athletes on and off the field.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The goal is to help connect the mind and body to create a well-rounded athlete who is clear-minded and can consistently perform at their best by using Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). Assisting athletes in exploring the life stressors of who they are in and apart from the sport, while never feeling good enough. Some topics explored have been surrounding performance anxiety, depression, anxiety, identity, injury, relationships, and anger management. Mara looks forward to joining you on this journey and helping you get through these challenging times.
