About My Clients
If you're reading this, odds are you're considering therapy. That's great, because life can feel like a nightmare sometimes. Whether you're dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, family conflict, or something else - even if it's something you can't quite pinpoint - I'd love to partner with you. I work with adults individually, and am a good fit for someone looking for a more laid-back, informal approach to therapy.
My Background and Approach
I tend to be pretty laid-back during counseling sessions and my main focus is giving you space to talk through whatever is on your mind. The space I hold for you will be open-minded, non-judgmental, strengths-based, and warm. I'm primarily a client-centered therapist that practices Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, so I mainly want to hear from you. I believe that in order to move forward, it can be beneficial to first affirm where you are. While I'm not a stickler about firm goal-setting, I do incorporate elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy so that you have something concrete to focus on, if you want it. I believe that clients deserve the right to be a collaborator in the therapeutic process, so I'll want to hear from you what's working, what isn't, what you like, and what you don't. I'm eager to partner with you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Much of my time as a therapist has been spent in the non-profit sector, providing mental health services to populations that are often overlooked and underserved. It's been a privilege for me to have that opportunity, and it's made me recognize and confront my own privilege. I think everyone can benefit from therapy at least a little bit, and that everyone deserves the opportunity to grow, heal, and recognize their own worth.
