About My Clients
I work with adults navigating anxiety, trauma, identity exploration, relationship challenges, substance use challenges, and life transitions. I’m especially passionate about supporting individuals who may be new to therapy and are looking for a warm, collaborative space to better understand themselves. I also value working with Asian-identifying clients and other clients of color and approach therapy through a multicultural, trauma-informed lens.
My Background and Approach
My work with trauma and abuse began before becoming a counselor, through roles as an advocate and prevention educator supporting individuals impacted by interpersonal violence. These experiences continue to shape my trauma-informed approach and my belief in creating a space where clients feel safe, understood, and empowered. As a counselor, I have continued supporting individuals navigating trauma, abuse, severe mental health concerns, suicidal or homicidal thoughts, and substance use challenges. I draw from existential-humanistic approaches, including Gestalt Therapy, to support processing and self-understanding, while incorporating CBT and DBT when skill-building is helpful. I consider the cognitive, emotional, behavioral, somatic, and systemic aspects of each person’s experience. Whether exploring the past, imagining the future, or navigating the present, I value curiosity, creativity, and present-moment awareness as tools for meaningful change.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe people and systems are always transforming. Our experiences, relationships, cultures, and environments shape our journeys, but we can also influence the stories we carry forward. I don't believe there is one “right” way to navigate life; flexibility allows us to meet different seasons with greater peace and freedom. I believe growth has its own rhythm. We can tend to the soil, but we cannot force things to ripen before their time. Therapy can offer space for patience, curiosity, and compassion as we grow. I approach therapy from a place of non-duality. I value unconditional positive regard and resist labels that overlook the complexity of people and their experiences. As an LGBTQ+ identifying and affirming therapist and person of Indian culture, I also value multicultural perspectives and how culture shapes our stories. I also believe our minds and bodies are deeply interconnected, and caring for our physical wellbeing is an important part of caring for our mental health.
