About My Clients
I see youth & adolescent clients aged 10-24 who are navigating various challenges such as anxiety, depression, suicidality, and other social-emotional issues. These young individuals may struggle with managing their emotions, focusing on tasks, or feeling overwhelmed by their daily responsibilities and social pressures. Their primary needs include developing coping strategies, improving their executive functioning skills, and finding a supportive environment where they feel heard and understood.
My Background and Approach
I have spent the last two school years working with clients at Kalispell Middle School as a School-Based Outpatient Therapist via Greater Valley Health Center. My time at the middle school gave me unique experience working with both behavioral and mental health issues. Before I received my MSW, I worked for two years at a residential treatment center for teen boys with trauma, behavioral issues, and substance abuse. This experience came before going to graduate school and helped lay the groundwork for the type of work I wanted to do once I became a therapist.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I grew up in a household in which I had a healthy and reasonable amount of autonomy to explore who I was and what I wanted, while also having structure and responsibility. This foundation has led my approach in therapy to be very client-centered, with an emphasis on teaching skills around autonomy building, empowerment, and learning better communication and advocacy skills. When I am not doing therapy, I am out advocating for more housing and doing work at the two non-profits I co-founded, Livable Flathead and Shelter WF. Housing is my hyperfixation. I am a big believer in the housing theory of everything, which aligns closely with my love of social work, and understanding that while individual therapy is extremely important, without community engagement and system change much of the challenges my client face-such as high housing costs, lack of access to quality medical care, etc.- are made that much harder.
