About My Clients
There are plenty of reasons to feel anxious and depressed nowadays, and yet there is also much we can do to ease unnecessary suffering. Therapy can help folks figure out complex feelings, identify where they have control, build patterns of resilient thinking, and learn how to be present with difficult emotions in order to move through them. Self-improvement can be intimidating. My job is to accompany you and support your growth with patience and compassion.
My Background and Approach
My education at Pacifica Graduate Institute emphasized Depth Psychology and a person-centered technique. I love to explore metaphor, symbolism, myths, and dreams with clients to uncover deeper layers to psychological patterns and problems. I also strongly resonate with somatic therapy, and ecotherapy, which emphasize our physiological experiences as animals on earth. I think about mental health in the context of nutrition, lifestyle, relationships, and the larger cultural values and messages.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In today's world, I resonate with an approach that is "gentle on individuals, but tough on systems." The larger economic forces and power structures in our country are problematic to say the least, and it makes sense that many are feeling outrage, fear, and hopelessness. By the time people make it to therapy, they usually need a safe place to regroup. If you work with me, my wish for you will be better coping, improved self-compassion, and a more balanced life.
