About My Clients
My goal as a therapist is to help you address areas of your life that are causing you distress, unhappiness or worry. I believe in helping you build on the strengths and motivations that you have to reach your goals for growth and happiness. I come from a modality that is sex-positive, LGBTQ Affirming and Kink-affirming. I have experience working with a variety of issues like anxiety, stress, depression, coping skills, sexuality, self-esteem, chronic illness, HIV, women and gender issues.
My Background and Approach
I earned my Bachelor of Arts from UCLA in Comparative Literature with an emphasis in French and Scandinavian literature. This complements my interest in world events, history and my passion for travel. I then went to pursue my Master's of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from CSU-Northridge. This was motivated by my passion to help others. As a teenager I was bullied in school and went through depression and anxiety. The adults around me did not notice that I was depressed and I did not have a name for what I was feeling. When I finally realized what I was experiencing was not "normal" and that treatment can make life exponentially better, I became determined to learn the skills necessary to be an adult that notices when others are experiencing hurt. That is how I decided to become a therapist, and I hope that we are able to work together on this journey!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in meeting you where you are and working in a collaborative way to help address issues that may be causing you distress. While I take a problem-solving, relational approach to helping clients, I also believe in the benefits of supportive therapy as people navigate daily challenges. I implement an in-depth approach to counseling.
