I have observed that I team up successfully with people from minority background with history of trauma [sexual assault; physical abuse; domestic violence; emotional abuse; and any other event that you consider as traumatic for you], complex family dynamics, anxiety and depression.
My Background and Approach
Growing up in a Asian community, mental health can be a difficult topic to talk about. And I say this out of my own experience and observation of others. Having lived in two different countries has provided me with an insight into the unique set of conflicts that arises due to cultural differences and us having different set of values than people around us. I, also, believe that as humans we have the ability to be a whole and complete individual. And there are times when this inner strength is overpowered by sudden or ongoing anxiety, unhappiness, and at times even anger. In my therapy sessions, I work with my clients in providing strategies that will help in re-attain functionality in day to day life and work on inner core beliefs as a step towards long term healing. I currently hold Licensed Mental Health Counselor credential that allows me to practice in the State of Washington and I'm comfortable providing therapy in Punjabi, Hindi, or English.
