About My Clients
Starting therapy can be daunting at first, and I want to acknowledge how immensely important this first step is. I congratulate you already on being here! I enjoy working with clients from all walks of life, with a range of concerns that they would like to work on. These include, but are definitely not limited to, trauma processing and healing, life transitions, anxiety, depression, grief, and sexual health and wellness.
My Background and Approach
I have previous experience working with survivors of sexual assault and houselessness, and as such, I approach mental health from a trauma-informed, client-centered, and humanistic perspective. My goal with each client is to create a warm, accepting environment where you can come as you are, because I believe you are the expert of your own story. It is my job (and honor!) to help uncover more parts of yourself and what you need as a human existing in this big world of ours.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As someone within the LGBTQIA+ community myself, I welcome, affirm, and celebrate the wide spectrum of gender and sexual identities. I aim to maintain a culturally humble perspective that honors the uniqueness of each person’s intersecting identities. I understand that larger societal forces, such as systemic racism, poverty, and discrimination, play an immense role in mental health, and my goal is to provide therapeutic care from a systems approach that deeply considers the biological, psychological, and social aspects of each person I work with. As a therapist-in-training, I am also able to provide more accessible care by working with a reduced rate and sliding-scale options. I believe that mental health care should not be dependent on your economic situation or access to insurance.
