About My Clients
I work with adults, teens, couples, and families that may be struggling with relationships, depression/anxiety, and eating disorders. I will meet you with curiosity, compassion, and collaboration and have found that what is showing up as "the problem" is actually an invitation to explore your past, present, and future and can be the beginning of growth. I will help you make sense of your mental/psychological life and will guide you toward growth, curiosity, and self-exploration.
My Background and Approach
Understanding your mental life will help you make decisions and create and hold boundaries that support your growth and well-being. As we explore your relationships, worries, fears, conflicts, emotions, hopes, and dreams, we will find clues that lead to the source of unresolved problems and a path to wellness. When we find the source, we can heal. The promise of our work together is a deeper understanding of your thoughts and feelings and insight into your wants, urges, suffering, and joy and all the emotions in-between. The journey of therapy is a personal one and I strive to provide the best care and guidance tailored to the individual, couple, or family. My intention is rooted in love and kindness and I am here to offer myself as a true other.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Before becoming a psychotherapist, I was a yoga instructor for over a decade. My background in yoga has shown me that human beings are complicated, integrated beings, not disconnected parts. I believe that the mind and body are wholly interconnected. My interest in the psyche began early in life when I found theater. In theater, embodying characters helped me connect with and uncover parts of myself that would likely be hidden otherwise. Theater helped me develop empathy for myself and others. Becoming different characters helped me get in touch with layers of myself and helped me develop empathy for others. Currently, I am actively involved with improv acting and find that tools learned in improv help to connect more deeply in the therapy room.
