My Background and Approach
I hold a BA in linguistics from BYU and a Master's of Social Work from The Ohio State University. Over the past several years, I've enjoyed working clinically with kids and their families, using a variety of approaches, including: cognitive behavioral modalities, art, narrative, sand tray, and play therapies. I believe in meeting each person where they're at and creating a space where they feel heard, understood, and empowered to grow. I am passionate about helping people develop the tools they need to navigate life's challenges.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I unequivocally support queer and trans individuals of all ages. As a social worker, cultural humility and respect for intersectionality are cornerstones of my practice. I hold firmly that I'm not the "expert" on anybody's situation, and approach each case with curiosity. I strive constantly to educate myself on how best to treat those with diverse backgrounds, as well as issues affecting their communities. Why teens and young adults? Primarily, I think they're a lot of fun to meet with. Beyond that, those are the ages when I, myself, most struggled with my mental health. Good therapy and medication changed the course of my life for the better-- I love paying it forward. When not in the office, you'll find me trying out new recipes, tackling DIY projects around the house, or making art. I am married to a wonderful guy and a mom to two great kids.
