About My Clients
Feeling happy and fulfilled in life is hard work, and even when we do our best, life throws new hurdles our way. I strive to provide compassionate and ethical care for teens, adults, elderly individuals, couples, and families to address varying life challenges. I acknowledge the systemic oppression that people face and respect cultural traditions and practices. I provide gender-affirming care and work to create a safe space for all LGBTQ+ individuals seeking support.
My Background and Approach
I have a certification in Advanced Substance Use Disorder Counseling and encourage harm reduction practices. I am passionate about reducing the stigma and discrimination of substance use. I utilize techniques from motivational interviewing, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and somatic therapy. I believe in fostering a strong, therapeutic relationship that involves collaboration with clients to achieve their goals, and provide them with a space where they feel seen and heard.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I strongly believe in the mind body connection, and the trauma that our bodies hold. I know that if we have the support and tools to be empowered to heal, change, and grow, we can achieve our goals, despite challenging systemic forces. As a queer individual, I understand that it can feel scary to exist as our authentic selves in the current sociopolitical climate. However, I am here to help you feel supported, confident, empowered, and capable of change and showing up the way you want to. Every one of us is incredibly unique, and I want to help you feel confident expressing your amazing self and living your life to its fullest potential.
