Having a feminist approach to therapy means I believe you to be the expert of your experience. It means I am affirming of marginalized identities, and am interested in building a relationship with you that has a balanced power dynamic. Having a feminist orientation to psychotherapy also means that I have done my own work around my intersectional identities as a white, cis-gendered, able-bodied, queer femme person.
A transpersonal approach to therapy means that I do not think there is a separation between our psychological and spiritual self. My therapeutic approach is informed by my 10+ years as a practitioner, student and teacher of meditation and yoga. Spiritual truths and teachings can help us heal, and there is value in connecting our sense of purpose, meaning and value in this world.
The Person-Centered, Rogerian approach to therapy means that empathy plays a big role in how I work to support you in your process. It also means that I value authenticity and realness in our work together, as well as an unconditioned positive regard for you as my client. Non-judgement and kindness are values of my approach as a therapist.
Life transitions can bring up all of our past traumas and coping mechanisms! I work to support you in processing difficult emotions like sadness, depression, anxiety and overwhelm as you embark on successfully navigating a new chapter or deal with anticipatory loss.
As a member of the queer/LGBTQ+ community, I am invested in supporting folks who are also apart of this community! I am affirming of marginalized identities, and understand sexuality and gender expression & identity to be fluid and evolving over time.
Grief is a fundamental aspect of ALL of our lives. Grief is deserving of time and space and therapeutic containment so we may live again for fully once we have felt the pain and sorrow of loss. Whether you have experienced an unprocessed death of a loved one or animal, or in pre-bereavement (anticipating the loss of a loved one or animal) I am here to support you in this process.
