Welcome! My name is MacKenzie Knapp & I am an Individual & Relational Therapist.
Marriage & Family Therapist in Tacoma, WA
Supervised by Sharon Young, LMFT
I believe that the framework for the relationships that we observed growing up influences how we approach & feel secure in our romantic relationships. Understanding these early experiences & the patterns that have evolved in today's relationships can enhance our empathy for ourselves, our ability to feel understood & how to communicate needs within our relationships.
I believe that the framework for the relationships that we saw & experienced growing up influences how we approach & feel secure in our romantic relationships.
I'm passionate about helping clients work towards re-authoring & taking control over our stories. Understanding how these have been constructed over time & deconstructing their power & the messages they carry, enhances the way we feel about ourselves, our locus of control, and the patterns we observe in our lives.
I believe that we all have anxiety to some degree & that is shows up differently in all of us (severity, presentation, etc). Anxiety is a perfectly normal stress response. However, when our stress-response is over-regulated or out of control, it's asking for us to pay attention. My focus with clients is to normalize anxiety & understand its scope of influence. Understanding this helps us take back control of your health & works towards developing a different relationship with anxiety.
My goal is to empower clients to both understand and communicate their needs within their relationships. I focus on attachment experiences, trauma, & family history & how it is observed through communication styles, relational & security needs, etc.
