About My Clients
My clients are seeking support, validation, & relational safety as they navigate stressful or life-changing experiences or struggling to find balance in their relationships. While not the only populations I serve, I am passionate about providing safe spaces for LGBTQ individuals (and their families), especially those processing family conflict & religious trauma, as well as clinicians that experience trauma through their work.
My Background and Approach
You are an expert in your own life and experience; therefore, my therapeutic approach is flexible so that each session can be client-centered and client-directed. All of my work, though, is relational, empathetic, and trauma-informed. Whether you need space to vent and process life events, exercises to manage anxiety or stress, or insight on family dynamics and past traumas, I have the skills to support you in your journey toward your most authentic self.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I became a social worker to work toward social equity and justice every single day. I believe that mental health is not just a individual concern but a social justice issue. I believe that the field of social work was founded in white supremacy and I work daily to be aware and address my own inherent biases to not continue that legacy. I believe that people are impacted by the experiences and environments from which they come and any meaningful mental health work with individuals takes the broader community and systems into consideration. I believe that you can love who you love and be who you are while also wholeheartedly pursuing spirituality and religion in a life-giving way (if that is important to you). I believe that you cannot throw away humans and that every life has inherent goodness and value no matter your past, present, or future experiences.
