About My Clients
I'm passionate about working with clients who share any of my identities and are looking for a therapist with similar lived experience. My main areas of interest include gender identity, disability/illness, autism, sexuality and relationships (including non-monogamy, kink, and sex work), and supporting other therapists and academics/scholars. Those who are drawn to working with me often identify as radicals, misfits, outsiders, activists, and cycle breakers.
My Background and Approach
I am a feminist therapist, and my approach is insight, depth, and systems oriented. I’m primarily influenced by critical theory, liberation psychology, existentialist and contemplative philosophy, and harm reduction principles. I have also completed training in S.A.F.E. (Somatic/Safety and Attachment Focused EMDR). My style is curious, genuine, and tender-hearted. I'm down-to-earth and easygoing, but I'm direct and won’t shy away from difficult topics. I love stories, metaphors, and riddles, and I like to use humor to add levity to our sessions. I often use books, workbooks, somatic exercises, podcasts, art, music, and journaling to supplement my work too.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My work is grounded in service, lovingkindness, and transformative justice. I am guided by the frameworks of abolitionism, anti-capitalism, anti-racism, disability justice, environmentalism, fat liberation, mad pride, pleasure activism, sex positivity, and youth justice. Community care and collective healing are important to me - I volunteer with and donate to various peer support and mutual aid groups and do 10-15 hours a month of pro bono service. Some labels I use to describe myself include white, queer, non-binary/agender, disabled, chronically ill, neuroemergent, small-fat, Appalachian, vegan, and a first-generation low-income college graduate (Women's Studies). In my free time, you can often find me curled up with a book or word game, a mocktail, and my 2 Siamese rescue cats. I enjoy baking, geocaching, slow fashion, dance, live music, art crawls, and Roadside America. I'm also currently learning French, trail orienteering, and psychoanalytic writing.
