Anxiety has numerous behavioral manifestations and symptoms. My role is to help clients explore and identify unresolved and painful experiences and feelings that they are avoiding.

Varying degrees of depression is common place , related to a client having chronic negative feelings and thoughts, problems with self esteem, stresses in our society, insufficient coping skills, lack of purpose, and an absence of of supportive relationships.

Facilitating clients to explore : negative and positive consequences of their substance use, finding alternative positive behaviors to using a substance, utilizing harm reduction, CBT, and ACT, increasing self care, understanding familial and cultural influences on their use, processing painful experiences, and encouraging engagement in a 12 step or Smart Recovery support group.

Helping client identify negative thinking or worries and if possible , reframe to more secure and realistic thinking.

My approach utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Therapy, and Insight Oriented Therapies.

Helping clients strengthen their self care and positive coping skills, gain insight into their presenting problems, process painful feelings and experiences, and have self compassion for themselves, and compassion for others, to be more fully present , at peace with themselves, and better able to enjoy their life.
