About My Clients

I welcome clients from all walks of life and have expertise in treating anxiety, depression, eating disorders, body image concerns, and maternal mental health, as well as supporting clients through the many transitions of life. I am currently accepting new clients and take most health insurance. Please take some time to learn more and see if I may be a good fit for you.

My Background and Approach

While I hold the title of Psychotherapist I am also an artist, mom, daughter, and most importantly a fellow human being. I believe empathy, listening, and being able to relate are essential ingredients for a competent therapist. My theoretical point of view is rooted in Person-Centered (Rogerian or client-centered therapy), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness-Based Therapy. By integrating these methods, I aim to equip clients with practical tools to manage their anxiety and improve their overall well-being. I received my Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Theatre and Dance from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and my Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Dance from the University of Iowa. In my 20s, I spent time dancing abroad in London, UK, and stateside in Washington DC, Alabama, and Minnesota.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

After witnessing how movement and expression could serve as powerful tools for healing, I decided to pursue a Master's in Counseling (MA) from Central Michigan University. I completed my practicum on campus at the Center For Community Counseling and Development, primarily serving college students and community members. I held an internship at My-Michigan Medical Center-Alma (University of Michigan Health) Psychiatric Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) that offered intensive outpatient therapeutic experiences in a group setting. After graduation, I continued my training and direct supervision at The Center of Hope Counseling in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, a leading private practice specializing in eating disorders. When I am not seeing clients, I enjoy hiking with my Boxer dogs, raising a curious kid, and finding the next best cup of coffee.
