Center for Enlightenment is my spiritual upbringing and home. I also grew up in the open, positive environment of Unity Churches. I am a spiritual counselor trained in each arena, and support you wherever you are in your spiritual experience and understanding. Mental health is a reflection of our spiritual health, so when we work on one, we are uplifting both.

Anxiety is a natural part of our physiology, and is meant to be tamed and gently but firmly overridden by our rational mind and emerging intuitive sense. I like using focused journaling, mindfulness, Brainspotting, and some as-needed CBT exercises to help identify those anxiety triggers, understand where they have come from, and to be able to reframe the reaction and manage it better. "Name it to tame it", our best neuroscience tells us!

I have extensive training and interest in supporting the LGBTQ+ community. Having been a teen in the later 1980s, I was horrified to witness the treatment of LGB (as was labeled back then) individuals, and it struck a chord in my humanity justice drive. I have extensive experience supporting others through the coming out process to transitioning at every stage. We all are discovering ourselves.

Every individual needs a personally-focused treatment plan that addresses their unique issues, circumstances, neurobiology, and work style. Having a holistic approach simply means that you will be listened to and we will create a treatment approach just for you, choosing accordingly from many tools and approaches I have been trained in and have practiced extensively both personally and in my 15 year experience as a therapist, and 30+ years as a spiritual counselor.

My favorite saying is, "If a therapist knows what they are doing, they will automatically use some form of an IFS approach." Internal Family Systems addresses all the many "parts" of us that have developed to make us who we are today and how we respond to life situations. In our work together, we will frequently address a "younger part"--an experience of self from your history that needs attention, processing, and integration.

Brainspotting is one of my favorite tools for healing! It is a mind-body and neuroscience-based approach using a focused eye position, body sensations, and mindfulness to process "stuck" places in the body from your history (recent or distant past). It is an effective go-to that we can use in conjunction with any other tool we are using toward healing.
