The focus of my doctoral dissertation was on body image. Therefore, my focus in therapy is to help clients explore their background, subculture, and thoughts behind having unrealistic and potentially harmful expectations regarding their bodies. In addition, I provide techniques which will assist my clients increase their self-concept which also raises self-esteem.

Anger is a natural emotion, and everyone experiences anger; however, sometimes we respond to anger inappropriately. In anger management, you will learn your triggers as well as your typical responses (e.g. feelings, bodily sensations) to triggers in an effort to learn appropriate ways of coping with feelings of anger.

The focus of my master's thesis was in the area of social phobia and anxiety. Anxiety can be debilitating to many, but it doesn't have to be. Through learning how to challenge negative thoughts through the use of cognitive behavioral therapy, you will find that life is easier and not so scary.

My theoretical orientation is cognitive behavioral. I believe our thoughts are connected to feelings and feelings are connected to outcome or behavior. You cannot think positively and feel bad, and you cannot think negatively and feel well. I believe in teaching my clients to think in a positive manner which will produce good feelings and usually a better outcome. The process of change begins through logging thoughts daily in order to assess and change them into something beneficial.
