I have worked with families through delinquency, anger, alienation, trauma, mental health issues, poor parenting, grief and loss, disabilities, immaturity, Chemical dependency, legal and financial struggles. I have helped families in their homes, through crisis situations, in jail, and currently out of my office. I am very solution-focused and family systems orientated.

I have enjoyed working with people of all ages. I have worked with seniors and managing chronic health conditions at any age. I have lead support groups, taught classes, and worked with educating and assisting entire families in helpful cooperation without taking over someone's life. Losing independence is a difficult thing to accept and move past. Accepting limits and understanding different health complications can often be a common mental health concern for families and individuals.

I am very cognitively behavioral in assisting individuals in identifying thinking distortions and solutions. Sometimes additional skills such as ACT, DBT, or Mindfulness skills need to be taught and learned. Very often our personal beliefs and history make it difficult to see for ourselves why obsessive behavior or chronic worry begins and grows until it is unmanageable.

None of us function in isolation and we all must learn how we are interconnected. Many times in families, it is easy to overlook how one small change can impact so many in multiple ways.

Some times the most important aspect of being mentally healthy is to be ready and willing to make some changes. When someone is specific and clear in what they are looking for help in addressing, clear questions and targeted therapeutic focus can be very quickly helpful. When people are open to hearing ideas and options, they are able to implement changes on their own.

When we view our problems or our worries in a specific manor, our behaviors follow in what we see as logical subsequent behavior. Often in order to change our behavior, we need to examine our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs in order to make any changes in our behaviors or our lives.
