About My Clients
I find that clients who reach out are looking for a more 'direct speak' therapeutic approach with less 'how does that make you feel' vibes and more how is that working for you, what else can we do? They recognize at times they may be standing in their own way & are ready to process openly in a safe space the patterns of self sabotage, negative thought spirals, people pleasing or other limiting behaviors engaged in which may keep them from moving forward.
My Background and Approach
I am an experienced therapist w. 25 yrs of engaging in face/face sessions. I utilize an Integrative Approach as it allows for rapport to be at its most genuine. It highlights individual needs, beliefs & perspectives of the client, client motivation & the therapeutic relationship as key elements influencing change. It emphasizes there is no 'one size fits all' approach and your therapist must be able to read the room and adapt to your needs as they present in each session. This is where experience becomes invaluable. Specialty areas addressed: increasing self awareness, establishing & reinforcing healthy boundaries, assertive communication, setting realistic expectations of self & others, disentangling from unfulfilling/ problematic situations, resolving feelings of shame, challenging faulty thinking patterns, differentiating between motivation vs. self discipline, managing grief & loss.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe healing can occur in many ways. The rapport between a client and counselor being a very significant one. I believe in order to live our most fulfilling lives we sometimes need perspective and a safe space to explore our unexamined, misunderstood or resistant parts of self. As best we can we must try to keep ourselves moving forward. I know reaching out is stacked with feelings of vulnerability. That's normal, let's connect.
