I am currently accepting clients interested in EMDR Intensives. EMDR Intensives are for folks who have been in talk therapy for years & still 'feel' the same. Or, perhaps you want help now & don't want to wait! Or, you can't find time for the unending weekly model. Or, you are ready for intensive work so you can move on with your life.
My Background and Approach
I am a trauma-informed therapist who believes strongly in the brain's innate ability to move towards healing. EMDR is an evidence-based practice for trauma; but it can be applied to a variety of issues. The process entails working with thoughts, emotions & the body (somatic). What is felt in the body is connected to a filing cabinet of related memories in our nervous system. Through stimulating rapid-eye movement (akin to the process of dreaming), a person is able to reprocess those experiences where the memory no longer activates a somatic response. The memory is not forgotten, but no longer carries negative meaning. This frees up the person to live fully in the present, letting go of past fears.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Though I am a white, cis woman, I identify as someone with a cross-culture upbringing, growing up in Nigeria. I have experience working with religious trauma & am passionate in supporting people of all backgrounds & beliefs with unconditional acceptance.
