About My Clients
It is easy to get caught up in prioritizing other's needs or feeling so much pressure to present to the world in a certain way. Many of the people that I see are trying their best to navigate their lives and feel thrown off course by symptoms of ADHD, depression, anxiety, grief, relationship/family conflict and burn out. Therapy is a space where we can identify what it is you want from life and develop strategies to help you not only cope but also develop proactive ways to help you thrive.
My Background and Approach
At 25 years old, I learned I am an ADHDer when I was about to start graduate school for Counseling. Good timing right?! This led to the last 15 years of learning about ADHD, depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, and the commonalities and unique differences in how each person experiences it. My work with a wide range of populations and areas of need has helped me to adapt to individual learning styles, to take a more holistic approach, to value authenticity, brainstorm out-of-the-box strategies, and help clients find what works for them based on their own strengths and needs. My approach is non-judgmental, relationship & strengths based, holistic and eclectic, because no two people are the same. My goal as a therapist is for you to learn more about yourself, to feel seen and heard, to have increased awareness of your needs, to feel empowered to go for the things you want in life and to feel like you have the tools to face whatever obstacles may arise.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I value supporting voices that often are silenced whether that be due to race, ethnicity, size, gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, neurodivergence, socioeconomic status, physical ability and religion. Having lived experience as an ADHDer who wasn't diagnosed until adulthood; I am passionate about helping other ADHDers find their voice and what works for them. In addition, as someone who has been fat my entire life, helping to dismantle weight bias and discrimination is also an area of advocacy that is near and dear to my heart. I am a HAES (Health at Every Size) informed therapist meaning I adhere to the research supporting that one's health is not determined by size or weight, nor is their value or worth. I recognize that coming to therapy is not easy as it involves vulnerability and trust. I want this to be a space in which you feel heard, safe, and comfortable enough to be yourself without fear of judgment.
