I use existential as one of many treatment approaches in my practice because it provides a framework for building the future. I don't think people "find" themselves in therapy more than people build the kind of person they want to be. As a counselor, I help give people options for how they want to build their future and what it may look like as part of the counseling process. We do this not to ignore symptoms, but to peek past them and make sure we're heading where the client wants to go.

I believe in centering the client in therapy is the best way to build trust and treat the client's symptoms. The best way to do this is by listening to the client and being non-judgmental for all aspects of their lives. Instead of use a "one size fits all" approach, I tailor my approach and treatment to the unique needs of the individual.

I use treatment tools from many different modalities, mainly existential, humanistic, and narrative counseling. I tailor my treatment approach and what tools I use based on the client's unique symptoms and goals as I believe this creates the best outcome for the client. I also strongly believe in advanced psychoeducation, I believe the more a client understands their symptoms the less distress they cause.
