About My Clients
I work with high-achieving adults who struggle with anxiety, trauma, codependency, and relational concerns. Many of my clients are queer, trans, BIPOC, mixed race, disabled, neurodivergent, fat, children of immigrants, and eldest children. They are used to keeping it together and taking care of everyone but themselves, only to find that they feel disconnected from themselves. Underneath the guise of reliability and strength, they feel lonely and unmet.
My Background and Approach
My practice is centered on exploring wounds in our early relationships, being with the parts of us that learned how to protect and perform, and re-connecting to the body to gain more insight into how we navigate the various changes of our lives. In therapy speak, I use a combination of relational psychodynamic therapy, IFS therapy, somatic therapy, and EMDR therapy. I am emotionally engaged, playful, and collaborative in my approach. I view your suffering in context, in that I am cognizant of how systems impact our abilities to connect to ourselves and others. I am not here to impose an agenda on your healing. I believe that you are the expert of your experience, while I am a guide to be with you where you would like to go. My work is motivated by my belief that everyone has the potential for change.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a queer, transgender non-binary multi-racial person of color, I believe in co-creating safe spaces that embrace my clients' complex identities and lived experiences. I acknowledge the violence that mental health systems have inflicted on marginalized groups who need the most support. I work to interrupt those systems by providing affirming spaces where clients are seen in their agency, power, rage, resentment, and resilience. I recognize that there are power dynamics between therapist and client, and am open to exploring how these impact the therapy relationship. I value talking openly how my intersections of identities meet with yours.
