About My Clients
I work with clients who struggle with a sense of belonging and experience barriers to being themselves. They are grappling with how to show up fully and authentically, while maintaining their safety. My clients tend to be people who live outside of the binary or "typical" mold that is expected of them, including LGBQ+ folks, gender diverse folks, multi-racial people of color, creatives, and daydreamers. I serve individual adults (usually 18-30s) and adolescents (12-17) with their families.
My Background and Approach
My work is centered around exploring the impact of early relationships, unpacking the stories we tell ourselves about our experiences, and connecting with the body to gain more insight into how the ups and downs of our life affects our well-being. I practice cultural humility, curiosity, and empathy. I am warm, playful, and collaborative in my approach. I draw on the personal and political contexts, looking at how they interact with each other and how this impacts your experience. I am not here to impose an agenda on your healing. I believe that you are the expert of your experience, while I am a guide to walk with you where you would like to go. My work is motivated by my belief that everyone has the potential for change.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a queer, transgender non-binary multi-racial person of color, I believe in co-creating safe spaces that embrace my clients' complex identities, presentations, and experiences. I practice from a social justice lens, acknowledging the harm that the mental health system has inflicted on marginalized groups. I work to interrupt those systems by providing affirmative spaces where clients are seen in their agency and power. I recognize that there are power dynamics between therapist and client, and am open to exploring how these impact the therapy relationship. I value talking openly how my intersections of identities meet with yours.
