After earning a double major in Psychology and Studio Art, I went on to get my master's degree in marriage and family therapy at PSU. For the first 5 years of my career, I worked with highly traumatized children and their families in community, hospital, home, and school settings. I opened my own practice 5 years ago and shifted to working more with individuals and couples. I have an attachment-oriented style, which means I will ask you about your past, relationships, and family, but we'll focus the most on the here and now. I will help you examine how your thoughts and feelings are helping or hindering you in your goals, as well as how to change your habits to improve your life. I am trained in EMDR, a body-oriented modality to help people overcome trauma and related symptoms in a relatively short time. I'm also trained in Gottman Relationship Therapy and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, both of which are research-based and highly effective for treating relationship problems.
