About My Clients
Many people I work with feel stuck in patterns that don’t make sense—persistent anxiety, emotional overwhelm, intrusive thoughts, or reactions that feel stronger than the present moment requires. These responses are often connected to how the brain stored overwhelming experiences. I work with children, teens, and adults facing trauma, anxiety, and life challenges, including neurodivergent individuals and foster or adoptive families seeking stronger connection.
My Background and Approach
I’m Lorin Puebla, MS, ALC, NCC, an Associate Licensed Counselor practicing under the supervision of Anna Barksdale, MSCP, LPC-S. With a B.S. in Psychology and an M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I have spent nearly a decade studying the neuroscience of emotional memory and trauma recovery. I am a Master Practitioner in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), an evidence-based approach that helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they no longer trigger the same emotional and physiological responses. I also have training in the Gottman Method for couples, Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), sandtray and play therapy, and cultural competency in crisis response. My work focuses on helping children, teens, and adults move beyond symptom management toward deeper healing and emotional stability.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a mother of five, I understand firsthand the challenges of balancing family life, personal growth, and everyday responsibilities. That perspective shapes the empathy and practicality I bring to my work with clients. My faith informs my values of compassion, humility, and hope, while I deeply respect the diverse beliefs and backgrounds of the individuals and families I serve. I am especially passionate about supporting foster and adoptive families and advocating for trauma-informed care in schools and communities. I believe meaningful healing happens when people feel safe, understood, and supported.
