About My Clients
Do you want to experience a more empowered and authentic sense of self? Would you like to be resolve negative trauma related emotions and let go of shame experiences? Do you wonder "why" you keep doing things opposite to what you "know"? Do you ever think you "self-sabotage"? Mind-body approaches help you intercept and change the deep learning of your experience-focused, non-verbal limbic brain and help you integrate your "thinking cap" with your emotional centers to achieve well-being.
My Background and Approach
Hi, The mind-body approach is favored! This includes emotional brain training (EBT), attunement, self-regulation and competency theory (ARC), accelerated resolution therapy (ART is an eye movement therapy), Gestalt play therapy, art therapy, and emotion focused therapy. When appropriate, cognitive approaches as needed (including trauma-focused CBT and dialectical behavioral therapy DBT)are used. Strong belief in the power of active listening since emotional suffering comes from ruptures in relationship with self and others.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The deepest type of human pain stems from experiences of shame. People thrive when they are in right relationships with self, others and God. Ruptures in relationships contribute to feeling abandoned, "less than", failure and separation from others. When people heal the inadvertent interpretations of their child limbic brain, they are able to move back to "secure base" and lead more healthy ad authentic lives. People need to realize that their wounds are "not who you are" but "what you have learned to do" to adapt to less than ideal situations. Once the unspoken pain can be expressed and "disconfirming evidence" added, people can utilize more effective coping, communication and boundary setting to lead the lives they want.
