About My Clients
I have two niches: I counsel highly educated professionals who are experiencing high levels of stress, as a result of their livelihood being threatened due to depression, anxiety, addiction and/or disruptive behavior in the workplace. I counsel adults of all ages who feel hopeless, depressed, and anxious. These clients are often grieving a loss, struggling in their relationships, or getting stuck because of a traumatic experience.
My Background and Approach
My home is in Gainesville, Florida (Go Gators!), where I am a Board Certified National Counselor and Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida. I am an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist. My work background spans every imaginable setting from an inpatient psychiatric unit in a maximum security prison to a university-affiliated outpatient recovery center. My clients include everyone from convicted felons to impaired physicians. After receiving my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Michigan State University, I moved to Gainesville, Florida, where I received a Master’s and Specialists Degrees in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Florida. Based on my training, I use several different approaches to counseling, including EMDR Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Informed Therapies, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Everyone is capable of growth and learning new skills. Change is possible, and almost everyone wants their life to be better in some way. By teaching others how to be vulnerable and to authentically communicate, people can learn to make connections between their thoughts and feelings. I believe in hope, security, and positive change. My treatment goals are always to help clients achieve health, happiness, and success in their lives. I am anti-oppressive. I support members of the LGBTQ+ community. I believe change is possible.
