I provide individual therapy for older teens who are navigating major life transitions, emotional overwhelm, and the pressure to meet expectations that don’t always fit who they are. Through our work together, I can help you feel more regulated and grounded in your body, reduce anxiety and emotional overwhelm, develop healthier boundaries and relationships, build confidence in decision-making, understand how your brain and nervous system work, and create coping strategies that actually fit.

For teens and young adults who are navigating what may be the most difficult transition in the life of a human being, burnout is very real and a common occurrence. You might feel like you're constantly on edge or just tired all-the-time. Through our work together, I can help you develop coping skills that will regulate your nervous system, create boundaries for navigating more successful relationship, and build your confidence for using the skills leaned to protect your mental well-being.

As someone who is navigating life with an autoimmune disorder and the parent of a child with very complex chronic health challenges, I am uniquely positioned to offer guidance and counseling on navigating life with these hurdles. We can collaborate on coping skills, strategies for seeking proper healthcare, managing medications, seeking adaptive equipment, etc. Naturally, I am a problem solver, outside of the box thinker, always looking for work-arounds to tackle life's most challenging aspects.

I LOVE reading and journaling! Books have been my friends for most of my life. Additionally, I enjoy journaling. Essentially, journaling can be anything a person wants it to be. If you are like me and experience almost constant anxiety, you will recognize the idea of your mind never being quiet. I have found that journaling helps to process all of those thoughts. Narrative Therapy is a tool that we can use to process our thoughts and explore ideas.

When I was in grad school, I was advised to learn all of the counseling theories and choose one to focus on as I got started in the profession. Throughout my program, I continuously felt drawn to person-centered or Rogerian theory. Carl Rogers pioneered the idea that, as counselors, if we can can be genuinely understanding, care unconditionally, and be authentically ourselves, we can create a very powerful climate for change in the therapy space.

After finishing grad school I quickly realized that person-centered therapy is at the core of all therapy practices. The most important thing for a counselor-client relationship is THE relationship. Second on my list is CBT, so I started to learn more about what CBT can help us with as we tackle childhood trauma, anxiety, depression, etc. The idea that we can change our unhelpful behaviors by changing our thoughts is incredible. When you get to the core thought, change is inevitable.
