About My Clients

I specialize in working with young adults (18-30's). My clients and colleagues tell me that I have a calming presence where they feel safe and accepted. Many of the young adults that I work with begin therapy because mental health challenges are getting in the way of their relationships, jobs, and goals. Some are trying to navigate their faith- figuring out what to leave behind, and what they want to own as adults. Some are recovering from religious trauma. All want support and tools to succeed.

My Background and Approach

I have been in the mental health field for 18 years, serving in various roles in residential, outpatient, school-based therapy, and Intensive Outpatient Therapy. I have been in leadership roles as a lead therapist, residential unit manager, and clinical manager. In private practice, I combine all of the experience and knowledge that I have gained over the years to give my clients high quality care and support. I use a strengths-based and collaborative approach in therapy. Your voice is important in therapy just as it is in your life, so if you struggle to find or use your voice, we will work together to find and strengthen it. For my creative clients, sometimes we use art, writing, and music. I use interventions from CBT, DBT, Narrative, and sensorimotor therapy. I attend continuing education regularly, and I also regularly attend trainings related to serving BIPOC and LGBTQ folks with respect and awareness.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Fun facts: Boy mom. My dog, Benji, loves to take me on walks. I love good coffee! I could talk about coffee all day long, so don’t get me started unless you really mean it. I am a secret introvert, but love people. I love being outside and doing all of the things. I watched every episode of The Office twice in 2020. This and watching Schitt’s Creek was my therapy! Also going to therapy is my therapy. Also, my swear word coloring book is my therapy. Things that I am passionate about- loving and serving others, social justice, having a humble approach to faith, and enjoying life as much as possible. I am also passionate about learning and challenging myself to keep growing. I love to read, listen to podcasts, eat Jamaican food, and join my friends around a fire. I believe that we are always growing, that hope is never lost, and you can get through just about anything with good people around you. If I can make another person feel a little better or laugh out loud, it was a good day.
