About My Clients
I work with individual adults and couples of all genders. Most of my clients start therapy because they struggle with anxiety and/or depression on some level. I do a lot of work with people who had emotionally neglectful, immature, or abusive childhood caretakers. My clients tend to be introspective and are ready to start doing deep work to help to shift the behavioral patterns that no longer work for them.
My Background and Approach
I earned both my B.A in Music Therapy and my M.S. in Counseling Psychology at California State University, Northridge. I'm trained in hypnotherapy, EMDR, and EFT. I create a safe, nurturing environment for clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, low self-worth, relationship issues, gender identity, and trauma from childhood neglect and/or abuse. Using imagery, narrative therapy, attachment theory, and emotion-focused interventions, I help you to identify and to process your trauma. Then we reconnect you to the parts of yourself that support you in being who you want to be.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we are all here for a reason and that every person has value. I'm a musician and a supporter of the arts. I have a witchy side and am open to bringing that side of myself into session with clients who are looking for that. I'm also very connected to nature (especially trees) and strongly support using nature for assistance with healing. Having been raised by emotionally immature parents myself, I've been on my own healing journey for 30 years and I believe it is important that I continue to do my own work to be of service to my clients. I am both a LGBTQ+ and a BIPOC ally and I endeavor to create a space where all people feel safe to explore their intersectionality and to celebrate their most authentic self.
