About My Clients

My Background and Approach
Michigan born and raised, I have spent years abroad immersing myself in other cultures and languages. I enjoy connecting with others in a genuine manner, and being approachable and nonjudgmental. Twenty years of my career was spent working in high schools on teen mental health, careers and education, but also have a background in community mental health services, suicide evaluations, crisis response, and am a certified trauma specialist. I have a wide variety of experiences and trainings over the past few decades that can assist you in helping you sort out where you are at, and where you want to direction your energy. I spend most of my time with you listening, talking, reflecting, teaching relaxation techniques and assessing mental health progress.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Photographer, dog lover, mother of two sons, and world traveler/explorer are words that best describe me. I am a supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, the BLM movement, and have been active at the state level on the Michigan School Counseling Association governing board, as well as county/regional boards in mental health. I adopt shelter dogs and have a huge heart for animals in general, and have been a vegetarian for 35+ years. I have a brother who is mentally impaired, and have spent my entire life working with individuals with a variety of impairments as a volunteer. I enjoy writing, taking photos everywhere I go, and traveling as much as I can with my two sons. My virtual counseling office is a safe, nonjudgmental, welcoming space.
