About My Clients

Are you your own worst critic? Maybe you can’t shake the feeling that your best is never good enough? Do the little things feel overwhelming? Is it hard for you to stick up for yourself and you’re left swallowing your anger or disappointment? My name is Liz Caritj and I work with people in high stress situations, particularly people working in the field of law or in rigorous academic programs, who feel like they’re falling apart trying to hold everything together perfectly.

My Background and Approach

Clients come to me for a compassionate, and non-judgmental atmosphere. Gain better insight into unhelpful patterns and learn skills to change them. You can better understand the physical and emotional reactions and learn new tools to get through challenging situations. Imagine learning to trust yourself and letting go of your harsh inner critic. I have 8 years of experience and have had the privilege of working in a variety of clinical settings during graduate school and after, including a university counseling center, community mental health clinics, and medical clinics. This variety has given me experience in treating a wide range of clients. I love helping people feel less alone and discover how powerful they really are. It is my goal to provide a safe atmosphere where you can unburden yourself and we can sort it out together, find healthy coping skills, and make a plan to get what's most important back into your life. Reach out to me today so that we can get started!

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have a humanistic approach to therapy and believe that people have an inherent goodness and the power to change. I tend to focus less on pathology and what is going wrong in your life, and focus more on your strengths and helping you figure out what you want your life to look like. I believe that a therapist’s genuineness, unconditional positive regard, and empathy are essential to success, but that training and technique are vital as well. I have experience and training in multiple, clinically tested therapeutic techniques (including Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing) but combine this knowledge to customize my approach to work effectively with your unique life circumstances and personality. Whether you are ready to get started or just curious, reach out to me today.
