About My Clients
Do you feel as if your well-being is affected by the systems in place around us? Do you see yourself through the lens of western society and are not sure how to take back your life, to rewrite your own narrative? Well, I think that we would be a good match. I am trauma informed counselor, that has spent many years listening to the voices of the oppressed and what is needed from me as a cisgendered, white woman.
My Background and Approach
I am a Registered Play Therapist, that specializes in child trauma and fostering the child’s relationship with their caregiver. I recognize that not all family systems are the same and are unique to the child’s life. I believe the therapeutic process should be led by the client, where they can come to their own conclusions and find the answers within themselves. My goal as a therapist is to provide a warm and non-judgmental environment for my clients to express themselves, and feel validated in their beliefs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a therapist that is grounded in the principles of collective liberation- I support children, families and individuals through connection, creativity, and justice. My therapeutic approach centers the wisdom of each human being, while recognizing and validating how systemic oppression- racism, ableism, poverty, and other forms of marginalization, impacts their emotional well-being and their family system. With a foundation in child/client-centered trauma informed therapy, I integrate anti-oppressive practices that honor each individual’s cultural, intergenerational resilience, and community care. My work is guided by a vision of a world where everyone is free to play, feel safe, and to fully be themselves, without the pressure to assimilate to western society.
