Accepting Clients

Hello! I’m Liz, a counselor and expressive arts therapist offering holistic care and creative solutions that go beyond talk therapy alone.

Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in Detroit, MI

About My Clients

People I work with are doing and feeling it all. Many are drained from navigating a world where they feel they can’t be their full selves. Whether your stress and overwhelm stem from life changes, trauma, relationships, chronic pain, substance use, and/or the impact of unjust systems, together, we'll aim to create balance, authenticity, and empowerment. I work with teens and adults from all walks of life, and especially love supporting other queer, neurodivergent, and highly sensitive people.

My Background and Approach

My approach is collaborative and liberation-focused, affirming all of you and the connection of your mind, body, identities, relationships, and culture. Therapy with me draws on your strengths, honors your pace, and centers your voice. As an expressive arts therapist and somatic counselor, I offer trauma-informed practices using mindfulness, art, sound, movement, and stories to tap into your embodied wisdom. Whether we work exclusively with talk, arts, or body-based approaches (or a combination), your preferences, abilities, and curiosities will guide us. No prior experience with the arts is required, just your willingness to explore beyond verbal processing alone. Joy is healing, so we will also integrate humor and play, along with practical skills, to decrease pain points and amplify your total well-being. Whether you're in therapy for a few sessions or a longer time, we'll aim to equip you with the knowledge and resources to sustain authentic change in your life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a proudly 2SLGBTQIA+, neurodiverse, and BIPOC allied counselor who works with adults and teens of all sexual and gender identities, ethnicities, races, religions, cultural backgrounds, abilities, body sizes, lifestyles, and relationship styles. I identify as queer (bisexual and gender non-conforming), neurodivergent (a highly sensitive person with sensory processing sensitivities), and have lived experience with chronic pain, illness, injury, and mental health. In fact, I chose to become a therapist because of my own journey healing from severe anxiety, burnout, trauma, and health issues. Despite what happened to us, I believe that with the right support, we can all tap into our inherent creativity and craft lives that are more fulfilling, healthy, and joyful. I am living proof of it. Finding a therapist can be one resource to support a life you love. If you feel we are a good fit, please reach out through this profile today for your free consultation.
