About My Clients
Often clients come to me after having negative experiences in therapy in which they have felt either judged or misunderstood or it’s their first time calling a therapist and they hold a lot of anxiety about the process. I provide a counseling environment where clients feel heard, valued, and truly accepted. I have a passion for helping those who are feeling stuck in life or in their relationships and are looking to live a more authentic and confident existence.
My Background and Approach
Trained as a clinical social worker, I am mindful of meeting a client where they are. I steer away from a “one-size fits all” approach and apply an eclectic range of theories and modalities tailored to the needs of my clients. I do not come to the privilege of working with my clients with an agenda or pathologizing framework. Rather, I am eager to learn how a client has seen and experienced the world around them.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a member of the LGBTQ community, I have a history as an active participant in the political movement of the 1990’s when fighting for equality could be a scary and dangerous thing to pursue. I was a member of the Lesbian Avengers and Human Rights Campaign and volunteered and worked for Whitman Walker Clinic in Washington, DC fighting for the health and rights of the LGBTQ+ community. I created the award winning Community Anti Violence Project of Baltimore to address the needs of LGBTQ+ victims of domestic violence.
