About My Clients
My clients are adults and older adults working with current situational issues or long term issues that can more easily be resolved using EMDR to gently move the problems to resolution. EMDR focuses on not what is wrong with you, but what has happened to you that created this problem. In that perspective it will aid in many of the problems that interfere in daily life functioning.
My Background and Approach
I have a broad range of experience in various settings. As the field of therapy developed and focuses have changed, it is now seen with more scientific data from brain scans to show that going back to the source of the problem will resolve it permanently instead of starts and stops of treatment. I now use EMDR as that means to find and resolve issues at the same time. I also use hypnotherapy, talk/psychodynamic solution based therapy. This is an inclusive approach for symptom relief and long term resolve, i.e., immediately relieving the feeling of anxiety and finding out what is causing it.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I enjoy my work and find a lot of interest in pursuing more information as it is discovered. The field has moved on progressively and it is fascinating to read to keep up with it. I've worked and have a special interest in helping our military and volunteer with giveanhour.org, a service of counseling provided to our military and their families for free. That also included my volunteering and working at our area crisis center for suicide, and hostage taking. I have also fostered rescued animals over time. That still leaves plenty of time for enjoying family, friends and personal interests.
