About My Clients
The world is full of uncertainty and when you are a teen or young adult it can be overwhelming. Trying to manage school, family, friends and the future can feel like a huge weight on your shoulders. I provide a safe and open space to talk about the worries that keep you up a night or make you want to crawl under the covers and never leave the bed. I also help parents learn how to help their kids make it through the teen years and improve their family functioning.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed clinical masters level social worker with over 20 years of experience. I have bachelors degree from Cornell University and a masters of social work degree from the University of Michigan. My career has focused on helping children, teens and families going through tough times. I worked with families involved with domestic violence, teens in juvenile residential placement and families in foster care. I am trained in a variety of clinical modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. My goal help each of my clients build a toolbox of resources that they can use to help manage their mental health. I am a perpetual student and am always learning new approaches to address the needs of my clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
One of favorite quotes was said by Madeleine Albright, "What people have the capacity to choose, they have the ability to change." I believe this is true not only about each individual but as a society as a whole. I believe we all have the ability to change the world and make it a safe and inclusive place for everyone. I support the efforts of communities that have been impacted by negative biases and exclusion to seek change in our country. I also believe that young people are subjected to incredible stressors today and that they need more mental health resources available to them to cope with it all.
