About My Clients
I work most with children and families. My clients may need help to cope with big emotions, feel more connected in their families and social communities, heal from trauma, build confidence and self-esteem, or learn some practical skills for daily life. I am passionate about helping families who are looking to dig in and understand the underlying issues and needs that may be driving behaviors and other surface issues.
My Background and Approach
My approach is playful, strengths-based, compassionate, creative, flexible, and affirming of diversity of all kinds. I have extensive training in play therapy and EMDR and am a certified AutPlay Therapy provider. Prior to beginning private practice, I worked in community mental health with children and families from diverse backgrounds, including children in DCS custody, adoptive families, immigrant families, and families who have sustained significant trauma. I have experience with a broad range of presenting issues and am passionate about continuing my own education and training to provide the best and most evidence-based, self-reflective care possible.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that therapy should be affirming of diversity of all kinds (cultural, racial, LGBTQ+, neurotype, religious, etc). I also believe that therapy should be at the pace of the client, whether that client is a child or an adult. I feel strongly that the child's voice should be amplified in therapy and that children should be allowed to have boundaries both in and out of the playroom.
