About My Clients
I work with bright, capable women who carry an invisible list of responsibilities everyone assumes they'll handle without being asked. Common themes are burnout, high-functioning anxiety, people-pleasing, feelings of blankness and disconnection, and a sense of having lost track of who they are outside of what they do for everyone else.
My Background and Approach
When we start, your inner world might feel like a junk drawer: unprocessed stress, guilt, expectations, relational discomfort you've never had time to sort out. When a comment, story, or emotion you bring in turns out to be a different version of something we've already touched, I'll highlight the connection and we'll work through it together. Over time, the mess starts to make sense. You see your own patterns clearly instead of just living inside them, and you begin to feel connected to the values, desires, and the narratives that were always there. Much of what's in the drawer, you'll organize and keep. But you'll also gain confidence in knowing what you want to discard. Most therapy stays week to week: you bring in what happened, talk it through, come back and do it again. It can help, but it can also feel siloed, every session its own island. I listen for the pattern and the through-line.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I don't think my clients are failing at normal life. The standard they're holding themselves to was built for someone who doesn't exist: a person who can absorb unlimited demand without ever running out. No one can carry all of it without strain, so not being able to isn't a personal failing. Some of that perspective comes from having lived it. I'm a stepparent, so the invisible load isn't abstract to me. I know what it's like to give your all and find yourself coming up short. And, growing up queer in a community that spoke about queer people with disdain, disgust, and suspicion gave me a bone-deep appreciation for the strain of feeling unable to measure up or become who you 'ought' to be, especially when facing real disappointment, pressure, and shame from others. I understand the challenge of extracting who you are from what you were handed. I also grew up Mormon and left the faith as an adult. I work with clients navigating their own faith transitions, and am LGBTQ-affirming.
