About My Clients
My passion as a therapist is working with people around issues of complex/developmental trauma, depression, anxiety, gender identity and expression, sexuality, aging, coping with grief and loss, life transitions, caregiving, perfectionism, self-worth, parenting, and fat positivity/fat acceptance.
My Background and Approach
My approach is relational, client-centered, and strengths-based which means I will center your experiences and wisdom and work with you to co-create a safe and collaborative therapeutic space. My therapeutic style is non-directive but we can bring in other therapeutic interventions including mindfulness, self-compassion skills, and emotional regulation techniques if/when you find those helpful. I’m passionate about creating therapeutic relationships where people feel supported, understood, and safe to be themselves. I draw from my own experiences as a queer cis woman, a mother, a woman of color, a larger-bodied person, and other life experiences and strive to show up authentically in our sessions. I believe in building trust, being real with one another, and working together toward your goals in a way that feels right for you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am deeply committed to trauma-informed, LGBTQ+ and neurodiversity-affirming approaches to psychotherapy. I recognize and appreciate the myriad ways people think, learn, and experience the world and know that the world isn’t always a safe place for those of us who hold marginalized identities. In this recognition, I collaborate with you to find what approaches work best for you in the therapy space. I’m also deeply committed to racial and economic justice. I recognize that systems of inequality and oppression affect people in unique and harmful ways, and I strive to create a space in therapy where these issues can be acknowledged and addressed.
