About My Clients
Over the years I've found I work best with adult who are struggling with mental health challenges or life transitions. I am usually working with individuals to cope with symptoms of depression, anxiety, and mania as they arise. For those who've wanted to, I've also worked with their significant others for couples therapy and/or additional family members for family therapy sessions.
My Background and Approach
I have worked in the mental health field for over seven years with individuals, couples, and families in crisis. I have a direct approach to therapy and use humor when appropriate to help lighten the conversation, which naturally can get tough in therapy at times. I mainly use CBT through our sessions as I've found it offers a large variety of skills that are easy to implement in your daily life. Although change doesn't happen over night, I do try to maintain a Solution Focused approach to therapy to help accomplish your goals sooner rather than later!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am an ally and supporter in just about every way! My hope is that you will always feel valued and respected by me in whatever background you have and however you identify. I believe that everyone deserves the same respect and attention. Especially in therapy, you should be free to be yourself! I use myself as an example all of the time in sessions so you will naturally get to know me more if you decide to work with me. But for starters I love being outside, have music playing almost constantly, and have my dog always by my side (who also loves the occasional guest appearance in a session).
