About My Clients
You are probably here because you have been thinking about making some changes in your life. Maybe you have been struggling to feel fulfilled in your relationships, career, parenthood, or you’re feeling overwhelmed by stress, illness, or loss. Finding a therapist like me is the first step toward improving your wellbeing and tackling those worries and fears. My clients tend to be folks who have tried therapy before and are looking for a new approach, or are trying therapy for the first time.
My Background and Approach
Practicing in a variety of settings through the years has given me the gift of working with diverse clients of all ages and stages of life. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, stressful life changes, antepartum/postpartum depression & anxiety, coping with serious illness, and grief counseling. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have experience using a variety of evidence based treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Interpersonal Therapy, and Mindfulness. An individualized and holistic approach to care is highly effective in supporting mental health, and I will partner with you to find what works best.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
One of the best things about being a Social Worker is our profession’s commitment to our Code of Ethics. We believe in the right to client self-determination, social justice, ethical practices, and so much more! I am unapologetically open and accepting of individuals from the LGBTQIA+ community, I cherish the opportunity to support individuals of different races and walks of life, and I am as comfortable talking about organized religion as I am atheism. I am a feminist. I value diversity, equity, and inclusion. I’m also not afraid to talk about the really awkward or hard stuff- sexuality, identity, past shame and trauma. What makes us human is our vulnerability, and I have the utmost respect for individuals who choose to open up about the things that feel most vulnerable to them. My interests: Reading, thrifting, deep conversations, laughter, hiking, dogs, concerts, travel, and my home state of Michigan!
