About My Clients
The fact that you are here, regardless of whether you choose to begin, continue, or pause your therapy journey already informs us greatly of your strengths. Finding someone you trust enough to begin sharing your story with may seem like an overwhelming task in the midst of an already overwhelming situation. You have likely long ago developed creative 'coping' skills, whether truly helpful or not, to pull you through what you have already survived. Now you're curious about something new.
My Background and Approach
I have obtained a B.S. in Psychology at Towson University and hold a M.A. in forensic psychology with a counseling track from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I have extensive training in trauma informed care approaches and have obtained a Level I Advanced Trauma Certification through the Ferentz Institute. My work is often related but not limited to individuals who have experienced and/or witnessed intimate partner violence, sexual assault, childhood abuse, are struggling with life transitions or self-esteem, and have diagnostic histories of Dissociative Disorders, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder/C-PTSD, Depression and Anxiety Disorders. As an avid reader, writer, musician, comic book drawer and out-of-the-lines mandala color-er myself, I often utilize expressive and creative forms of therapy, including mindfulness, guided imagery, and brainspotting in addition to cognitive forms of therapy to help you recover, heal, and grow.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It is a privilege of mine to get to work together to create a place that is safe for healing and holds unconditional positive regard, devoid of judgment in order to promote self-discovery, empowerment, and autonomy. I do this through cognitive, somatic & expressive techniques. This may also include the use of brainspotting for healing deeply rooted concerns. My role is to provide guidance for what you have always been capable of (though we all often require a supportive hand to help nurture)-bringing to the surface your innate strengths and abilities that already exist within you to recover, heal, and grow in a way that is authentic to you.
