About My Clients
You feel like you are doing everything wrong as a parent. You are in constant battles with your child. You’ve been through seven therapists who said they were “trauma-informed” but bailed at the first sign of trouble. You want to be a good parent. You want to be able to give your child what they need. You want to stop the screaming for the love of all things holy. You want to feel capable, strong, and have some peace (or at least an hour of quiet).
My Background and Approach
I've spent 12 years working with trauma, parents, and kids in the adoption world. I believe the bulk of change in therapy comes from the relationship and connection between therapist and client, so I focus on that first and foremost. I want to intimately know my clients, so I tend to ask a lot of questions, ask for examples, and try to get them to tell stories to understand them fully. I am honest about what I know and what I don’t, and am eager to research what I don’t know. I am direct and candid, I don’t beat around the bush or sugarcoat things, even when it is hard. I will sit in the pain and messy emotion, even when my dismissive attachment is screaming that it is so uncomfortable. I am genuinely curious about humans, and that makes me a great fit for those who want to do the deeper work of life in therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I've been an LGBTQ+ ally pretty much from birth, as I have a parent in that community. I am active in my local Moms Demand Action to Prevent Gun Violence chapter. I am a parent of two little ones, currently age 6 and 3, so my non work days are spent styling Barbie hair and playing Harry Potter Lego video games. I lead a local Girl Scout Daisy troop.
