Trauma is what is left after the dust has settled. It is that persistent dread and hopelessness, rage and grief. I work with veterans and civilians experiencing the effects of traumatic events and the physical experience of chronic pain. Together we explore the relationship between memories, emotions, and the body. Using evidence based practices (e.g. EMDR, IFS, and mindfulness), I work collaboratively to address the unique needs of each individual.

My niche in the therapy world is trauma-informed therapy, but let's talk beyond the word "trauma." I work with people who, at any given moment, feel somewhere between two extremes 1) Disconnected; and/or 2) Over-connected. Depression can often feel like a disconnected experience (isolation, anyone?). Anxiety can feel quite the opposite, like a hyper-awareness at all times. Both, interestingly, can have mental loops that play over and over and over again. This is the work I specialize in.

Culture is vast and informs our identity, both through the parts to which we ascribe and through the parts we adamantly reject. Culture unites us. Culture divides us. In my work, I combine talk therapy with somatic techniques to invite the body into the healing process. Your body holds emotions, memories, stresses, and trauma. To address this aspect of the work, I invite you to consider bringing your body's experience into your therapy work. Common techniques I use are meditation, mindful body scans, and reflections to building awareness of where you hold memories and emotions within your body.

Relationships are beautiful and a daily part of life. At the same time, relationships have this uncanny ability to bring out parts of ourselves that we either never knew we had or that we normally don't see. If you're feeling stuck in your relationship, caught in negative cycles and miscommunications, I get it. Relationships are hard! But they're worth fighting for. I help couples and partners find connection and learn new and different ways to communicate and get unstuck.
