About My Clients
While I work with a variety of clients, I work primarily with parents who feel the weight of the world on their shoulders. The modern model of parenthood does not do our mental health any favors. I want to help clarify what's important to you and build a version of parenthood that makes you feel whole, complete and able to show up for your family in a way that you feel proud.
My Background and Approach
My neurocounseling approach incorporates new findings in the fields of neuroscience, counseling, and physiology, including polyvagal theory, the gut-brain axis, and top-down, bottom-up processing. Mindfulness is central to my counseling philosophy. I use structured exercises and psychoeducation to make mindfulness real for my clients. I help my clients redefine self-care to lower their baseline of stress. The result is the ability to react, rather than respond. I am passionate about viewing my clients holistically, in the context of broader family and social systems, culture, and society. I use a biopsychosocial approach to build resilience, self-compassion, and empowerment.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I'm a proud intersectional feminist, a therapist, a wife, and a mother. I advocate for caregiver leave and social policies that recognize the tireless care work that so many depend upon. I work to shed light on the invisible struggles that parents and caregivers have suffered in shame and silence. I am vocally and passionately aligned with the Health at Every Size movement. I believe that nourishment and pleasure are rights afforded to all. I work to dismantle fat phobia in health care settings. I am a certified yoga instructor, who believes in the inherent worthiness of all beings. I believe in all 8 limbs of yoga, and live by the mantra "Aham Brahmasmi," which embraces the divinity and sacredness that lives within everyone.
