About My Clients
As an LGBTQ+ person today, it’s easy to feel like everything is unraveling while you’re just trying to hold it together. If you’re exploring your identity, coming out or transitioning, or struggling to cope in an increasingly hostile world, it can feel overwhelming and hopeless. Maybe you’re carrying shame, fear, or doubt, hiding parts of yourself to please others or to stay safe. The end result can be anxiety, depression, and isolation. But you don’t have to face it alone.
My Background and Approach
Queer and trans people have specific needs and deserve affirming, competent care. I offer a space where you can show up fully, without judgement. I enjoy working with LGBTQIA+ adults from all walks of life, and I have expertise supporting transgender, nonbinary, gender expansive, and gender non-conforming individuals. I received my Master of Social Work in 2006 from the University of Pennsylvania and have held a clinical license since 2014. My primary approach is humanistic and person-centered, and I incorporate solution-focused tools where helpful. I'm a trauma-informed provider and offer a sex-positive and body-positive space where you can bring your full self. My style is warm, compassionate, and direct. We'll consider your concerns in the context of your past and current experiences as we work toward finding clarity and relief from your symptoms.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a social worker, my training emphasizes the powerful role that social and environmental factors play in mental health—and humans’ inherent ability to change and grow. My work is rooted in understanding how systemic oppression, community context, and lived experience shape a person’s well-being. I bring a feminist and social justice lens to my work, paying close attention to how race, class, gender, sexual orientation, neurodivergence, disability, and other aspects of identity intersect. This perspective helps me support my clients in navigating the real-world barriers they face. In addition to my clinical experience, I’ve advocated for the rights and well-being of marginalized communities in both nonprofit and government settings. My background includes roles promoting access to reproductive and sexual healthcare, HIV/AIDS care, and environmental health.
